In biannual intervals, the Land Salzburg government is awarding the Christian-Doppler-Prize as its most important distinction for young scientists' achievements in the Natural Sciences. Dr Dirk Tiede from Z_GIS on June 13, 2014 received the prize in the category 'Geosciences' for his recent publications in fundamental and applied Geoinformatics:
  • "Analytical 3D views and virtual globes – scientific results in a familiar spatial context"
  • "Automated Damage Indication for Rapid Geospatial Reporting"
  • "Automated Analysis of Satellite Imagery to provide Information Products for Humanitarian Relief Operation in Refugee Camps – from Scientific Development towards Operational Services"

We at Z_GIS are proud that Dirk as one of our highly regarded senior researchers is continuing in the footsteps of Prof's Thomas Blaschke and Josef Strobl as a Doppler-Prize recipient and could make the top rank in this year's competition - congratulations!
