EO-based services to support humanitarian operations:
Final Project Meeting @ MSF Austria

The 30-months FFG project EO4HumEn, coordinated by Z_GIS, had its final meeting in Vienna on March 31 at the premises of Doctors without borders (MSF).

The project team developed Earth observation (EO)-based routines for crises-related information with respect to (1) population numbers, densities and dynamics (2) potential groundwater reservoirs and (3) the impact on the local environment. MSF as key-partner and main user significantly contributed to further develop geospatial products for mission-planning and day-to-day operations in refugee and IDP (internally displaced person) camps.

A follow-up project to extend the portfolio of EO-based information in humanitarian crises will start in May.
